Clyde Orchards expanded into the Bannockburn region in the mid-1990’s. This region is also renowned for wine, with our orchards nestled amongst some of New Zealand’s most famous wine producers.

Cherries Picnic, Lapin
Originally part of Kawarau Station, this north facing, elevated block of land was purchased and developed in 2017. The first year of commercial production was in 2020 and proved that the elevation and orientation of the block assists in producing high quality fruit that is harvested early in December. Felton Road is famous for wine and some of New Zealand’s most acclaimed wineries neighbour this block. The cherry trees nestle amongst grape vines such as Felton Road, Sam Neill’s Two Paddocks and Akarua Vineyards.

Johnsons and Aurora Partnership (Phoenix Block)
Felton Road
7ha
Cherries Picnic, Kordia, Lapin, Sweetheart
Phoenix Orchard was a mixed crop summerfruit block originally developed in the 1980’s as a syndicate orchard. The block had been leased by Clyde Orchards for 20 years. At the end of the lease individual landowners took over their respective blocks with two of the block owners entering into ongoing management arrangements with Clyde Orchards. Over the last 10 years the orchard has been redeveloped to grow exclusively cherries. Felton Road is world renowned for its Pinot Noir and these blocks neighbour some exclusive wine labels including Mount Difficulty and Te Kano Estate.
Slap Jack
Felton Road
6ha
Cherries Lapin, Sweetheart, Staccato
Situated across the Long Gully from our Felton Road block is SlapJack. The name was derived from the Slapjack Saddle which offers great views of the Cromwell basin, Lake Dunstan and the Clutha/Mata-Au valley after a 24km walk or bike. The majority of our sweetheart crop is harvested from this block and these cherries mark the end of our seasons harvest in Bannockburn.
