The Permanent Crew

Clyde Orchards employs about 10 permanent staff all year around. We are also proud to be an employer of a great group of men under the RSE scheme.  The season is busiest from November to March during our harvest, with maintenance and pruning being conducted in the off season.

The Ni-Van Crew

Since its inception in 2007, Clyde Orchards have taken part in the Recognised Seasonal Employer Scheme (RSE). This program offers working visas to people from Vanuatu to come into New Zealand as seasonal workers – most of our crew return every season.

The RSE is grower-initiated scheme to fill the shortfall of available labour in
the horticulture and viticulture sectors and as a way to support economic development in the Pacific region. The positive economic and social outcomes from the RSE makes it attractive for governments, industries and Pacific workers alike, and is the reason why the scheme has continued to grow.

In time for the 2025–2026 season, Clyde Orchards has opened its new 10-room accommodation for the RSE team. Inspired by a traditional Vanuatuan meeting house, the new facility provides a culturally grounded and comfortable home for returning workers. Read more about the building here.

Seasonal Staff

Every season Clyde Orchards hires a large crew of seasonal staff. Locals, students and foreign travelers all make up the workforce needed to pick, pack and manage getting our fruit from the tree to market.

We take pride in the fact that we attract the best workers around. Clyde Orchards is known as one of the best orchards to work at in the region and while we work hard we have fun while we do it! Staff BBQ’s, cooling off in the orchard irrigation dams or listening to the music that is often blasting from the pack house are all regular occurrences on our orchards.

Many of our team return every year to spend another summer at Clyde Orchards.

If you would like to register your interest in working with us, see the details on the Work at Clyde Orchards page.
